The Luxury Of Fur In Today's Fashion World

Luxurious furs embody old Hollywood glamor at its finest. Hollywood's
most iconic women wore real fur. For example, Marilyn Monroe famously
captured the soft, sensual and enveloping fur look when she donned a
sultry white mink coat and a long fox stole in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
In a contrasting style, Barbra Streisand's character in Funny Girl was
dressed in playful daytime couture fur: she sported a leopard print fur
coat and matching hat that is just as on trend then as it is now.
Today's fashion designers are emulating the fur look worn by classic
Hollywood starlets. While they're definitely keeping those timeless
pieces that never go out of style as is, they're adding modern twists to
other pieces where warranted and creating whole new fur fashion designs
too. The latest catwalk collections are featuring classic fur gilets, or fur waistcoats, and modern jackets that are versatile, stylish and
suitable for all seasons.
Women Can Wear Fur no Matter The Time of Year
Furs can be worn all year round: contrary to popular belief, it's not
restricted to just the winter season. While fur will of course keep you
comfortable and cozy in the colder months, it will also allow the body
to breathe in warmer weather because it is made of natural fibers.
Natural fabrics and materials are inherently iso-thermal. In addition,
modern technology is increasing fur's year-round wear-ability by making
the material more lightweight.
Fur Has Never Been More Versatile
Fur is versatile because it can be worn every season, but it's also
versatile in the sense that it can be worn anywhere and everywhere.
After all, fur looks just as good with blue jeans as it does with a
formal ball gown. The days when women were restricted to wearing fur
only to grand galas and evening soirees are no more. Fur garments are
suitable for any event or occasion, day or night.
Fashion is Focused on Fur
Fur is more fashionable than ever before. It has grasped the imagination
of fashionistas worldwide. Even Sex And The City's fictional
fashionista, Carrie Bradshaw, was enamored. In one memorable episode,
the fashion-forward character dressed herself in a knit fur wrap of
chinchilla to New York Fashion Week. She was accompanied by her just as
stylish friend, Samantha, who wore a classic white mink coat reminiscent
of Marilyn Monroe.
Designers are taking note of the growing fur trend and showcasing it in
their collections in increasingly creative ways. All the big designer
house names are introducing fur fashion with new silhouettes, colors and
patterns. Stella McCartney, Coach and Ralph Lauren are sending furs of
all colors of the rainbow strutting down the catwalk. Collections from
Vivienne Westwood, Thom Browne and Emilio Pucci are displaying wild
animal prints and contemporary pieces that feature bold geometric
designs. Fur is dominating the fashion scene.
